Being a good parent is hard work. As a parent, it is our responsibility to give the right nurturing and guidance to our children to help them discover their passion and purpose, and have a bright future as they blossom into confident, competent young adults.
Take a look at some of the best ways to raise a well-rounded, happy & healthy child.
Every child has his/her own genius. As a parent, your kids' innate talents are bound to surface, and it's important to encourage them to follow what they love, whether it's dancing, art, singing or sports. Do incorporate 1 or 2 activities into your child's daily routine.
Praise your children for a job well done, but don't forget to praise them for attempting something new outside their natural talent. This instils the importance of growing new skills and creates a passion for life-long learning.
As a parent it's up to you to regulate the time your child spends on gadgets. Whether it's engaging in imaginative play with their toys, or playing downstairs with friends, it's important your kids develop creative skills and actively socialise with children of their age in a fun environment.
Read to your children every day to help them develop a love for the written word and build their listening vocabulary, which will go a long way in their academics. Encourage diary-keeping from a young age, and respect their privacy. Writing will help your kids structure their feelings and find a healthy outlet for their emotions. At the same time, listen to what your child says and encourage them to talk freely and confidently which will help them build successful communication skills later on.
It's important to discipline your children and impose limits. At the same time try to understand them as little humans with individual thoughts and opinions. Encourage them to be independent and let them take responsibility for their actions. They will respect you for it.
Be your children's strongest support system. Love, affection and attention are crucial to their emotional & behavioural development. This does not mean spoiling them with material gifts. Words of love and praise will go a long way in boosting a child's self-esteem. Touch and contact help establish a sense of security for your child. Hug your children, it's the easiest stress buster for you and them!

First of all I would like to thank you and the Gera team for organizing different workshops at our doorstep.
The best thing I have done to my kids is that I took a right decision to buy a flat in Gera.
Because of this decision , Vishnu could attend the development workshops that were conducted.
Vishnu was a shy child who didn't like to participate in any of the programmes.

My son Tattva had been enrolled in the intermediate level and has been coached by the Vishwanathan Anand Chess Academy coach . Tattva has made remarkable strides and will be on his way to get his FIDE rating in November. A lot of credit goes to the mentor for his unique way of handling his students. He has been very patient while working with Tattva on his areas of improvement. In addition before the tournament the coach had voluntarily added additional classes and doubled his efforts to get a better performance out of Tattva. He has shown complete ownership which is commendable. I hope he continues to develop more and more chess players in the coming days...
