Gera Developments Private Limited (GDPL), pioneers in the Real Estate industry and recipients of multiple awards for their premium residential and commercial projects across Pune, Goa, and Bengaluru, inaugurated the Shree Kshetra Mahabaleshwar Sports Centre, in Tandulnahi village, Kshetra Mahabaleshwar, District Satara, on Tuesday, the 22nd of October, 2024. The sports facility is dedicated to fostering athletic skills amongst children of Tandulnahi and neighbouring regions, and provides a safe space for children to pursue their passion for sports in Mahabaleshwar. This project, led by GDPL’s Chairman, Mr. Kumar Gera, is the latest addition to the company’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, representing a commitment towards upliftment and holistic development of rural children in the region.

The Shree Kshetra Mahabaleshwar Sports Centre, developed in partnership with the local NGO Swayam Satara and Kshetra Mahabaleshwar, is spread over an acre of land, and is equipped with multiple facilities, including a box-cricket setup, an open ground for football with equipped with a goalpost, and a designated area for volleyball. These facilities aim to serve over 150 children from the Tandulnahi neighbourhood, fostering an environment where sports can become a channel for children to hone their skills, build teamwork, and grow in confidence.

In addition to the sports centre, plans are underway to construct a fitness centre, which will include a gymnasium for the children. The bhoomi poojan for this centre was performed during the inauguration ceremony by Mr. Gera, who was joined by Mr. Sunil Suresh Biramane, Sarpanch of Shree Kshetra Mahabaleshwar, along with officials from the Zilla Parishad, teachers, support staff, and students from the neighbourhood.

Mr. Kumar Gera, Chairman of Gera Developments, shared his vision for the centre, “I believe that children thrive when they receive opportunities at the right time. The Shree Kshetra Mahabaleshwar Sports Centre is a step towards providing the children of this region with as many opportunities as possible so that they get to explore their passions through play, sport, and fitness, they get to discover their true potential. Over time, more children from beyond the immediate neighbourhood will also benefit from the centre. I look forward to the centre producing sports stars in the future.”
